Crap Hound - Additions 2023
Additional Greatness From Previous Themes

Behold! For the second time in three years, Sean has made an “Additions” issue. This one contains 20 pages of Suns, Moons & Stars, 14 of Superstition, 24 of Hearts & Eyes, 20 of Books & Bees, and 17 of Death, Phones, & Scissors.

Additions 2023 feature all-new materials that couldn't fit in the original issues due to space and time issues. The result is a surprisingly enjoyable cross-polination of topics all in one fantastic issue.

Each page of Crap Hound is a treat to the eyes. Design-types will appreciate the incredible attention to detail of tessellation, and how each page tells a story all its own. Crafty-types and Xerox-jockeys will enjoy taking scissors to its pages and refashioning their own works.  Tattoo artists will revel in the iconography on each page.

This is 112 pages of of goodness in one single staple-bound volume.

TAKE COMFORT IN THESE WORDS

Behold!

For the second time in three years, I’ve finished an “Additions” issue. This one contains 20 pages of Suns, Moons & Stars, 14 of Superstition, 24 of Hearts & Eyes, 20 of Books & Bees, and 17 of Death, Phones, & Scissors.

This multi-topic format has been surprisingly enjoyable. If I’d thought of the approach earlier, I could’ve skipped previous strategies of revisiting past topics: breaking issues into two parts, adding pages to later editions, or including a separate addendum. With the new approach of bundling several topics in dedicated “Additions” issues, I can focus on the topics that have adequate material, setting aside more recently covered (or more slowly acquired) topics until they’re ready.

I’m able to cherry-pick the best new images, building pages and finished spreads at my leisure. And as a final bonus, the freedom from deadlines lets me experiment on layouts, trying things I’ve long considered but never got around to.

The center spread of this issue is a perfect example.

The four typefaces in the back of this issue were all taken from old advertising materials. None had names, so I did the honors.

Well, it looks like I’ve reached the end of the limited space I intentionally left for an intro this time around.

That’s it for now, friendo. Enjoy this second

Additions issue, and thank you for reading!
